By a long shot.
175 billion in claimed savings
74 billion in receipted savings (though much of that is dishonest double counting, nonexistent receipts, etc)
Estimated 135 billion in direct costs . So the absolute best case is an added 61 billion in spending.
But wait there's LOTS MORE
estimated 500 billion in lost tax revenue due to
IRS gutting (this may have been one of the points all along- along with data stealing)
Untold losses in research (will certainly be in the hundreds of billions-at least).
Unknown costs of all the court costs of those wronged by the illegal and reckless firings. But that will be in the billions and billions most likely.
Unknown losses in productivity but also will be in the billions and billions.
Note: the usual suspects are ready to pounce about the IRS. All honest posters know I proposed getting rid of it decades ago. And I still advocate that. But that is no
excuse for wanton law breaking. It would be similar to
thinking that 15MPH speed zones while kids are safely in school but not thinking cars should go 80 MPH through the
zone instead.
