much lower than SARS-CoV-2.

So are you trying to argue we had a particularly virulent form of influenza in 2020-2021 that accounted for the excess mortality? Or that the COVID numbers were fudged, which would then seem to make COVID even more lethal in reality as less cases of infection were responsible for the deaths?
