I hear people on all sides saying things like, "This only saves $200M and that is barely a blip on the total debt."

Who cares? Waste is waste. If my child is financially strapped and wants my advice, I don't tell him to keep buying $6 coffees every morning because he is wasting more on the new sportscar and luxury condo. I tell him to cut all wasteful spending and live within his means. It baffles me how many people think you just ignore waste because it may not be the biggest waste.
