I was at that game (and in fact, got to talk to Coach Pinkel about it during Mizzou night in Naples in February)
The momentum had clearly changed when Franklin got hurt and had to come out of the game with Missouri ahead 28-26. All Mauk did was come in cold - get a key first down by inches on 3rd and 6 on a QB draw- and then start the play that won the game - Mauk to Sasser to Washington for a TD.
And then complete a long pass down the sideline to Doriel Green Beckham for the final TD to seal the win.
If Mauk doesn’t come in and do what he did, we don’t win that game.
He did a heck lot more than just being “on the field at the end”.
