small scale operation in rural Missouri back in the late 70s. This guy was manufacturing and selling a predator control device using shotgun shells and a common poison. Given the nature of the case the USAG detailed a Federal Marshal with a warrant to assist us. It was a three man team, including the Marshal. We made contact with the subject and his wife asked for voluntary compliance, including a search of the farmstead premises. He refused and the Marshal held up the search warrant and told the couple we would search every barn and outbuilding, as well as their home. The wife asked if we would search her closets and chest of drawers and the Marshal answered that we certainly would. She immediately scolded her husband and told him to show us what we were looking for. That was the first time I was involved in a warranted search of private property. We didn't have to search her bedroom.
