Child labor laws, minimum wage, worker safety laws, the 40 hour week, and many more came about becuase of unions. In practice, many have become corrupt and need to be reformed. I dont see how, in a "free" country, workers in any professions should be barred from working with each other to bargain on wages, benefits and working conditions.
