That’s why if an unmarried, unengaged girl was raped, the punishment was the rapist paying the stolen bride price to the father and if the rapist married her, he couldn’t divorce her. If a man raped an engaged or married woman, who was property of the husband, then the rapist was put to death for stealing the property of the husband.
Women were not permitted to divorce, only men.
