In regards to the mentally ill you can:

1. Kill them (and in history that's been a common 'solution')
2. Incarcerate them (insane asylum)
3. Let their families or charities take care of them (in which case some percentage will roam the streets until dead, some committing serious crimes).
4. Drug them (telling everyone that the resulting zombie-like behavior is 'cured' and when they go homicidal - as those drugs warn can happen - pretend some other situation is the cause.)
5. Normalize them so that anything they might do is protected behavior, demonizing any victims of that behavior, claiming we must accept the consequences because these people are 'misunderstood' and anyone who misunderstands them is the bad guy.
For many reasons we've reached step 5.
You'll notice understanding the source of their illness and curing it is not on the list.
That's because right now, just like modern science can't change a biological male into a biological female (and vice/versa), modern science has NO IDEA how to deal with mental illness.
Will step 5 work? Simply mainstreaming the mentally ill and taking down any who object?
Well, it's never worked before, but it sure is a neat technique for a death cult that seeks to destroy civilization itself - which is EXACTLY what the Democrats of today have become...
