Their electorate is used to European style statism, the kind of situation that is killing Europe but that American Democrats dream about. Canadian-Americans would tend to vote in favor of this nonsense.
Unless there was a period of time, and a relatively long period of time like 12 years or more, where a transitory situation were enforced requiring one GOP and one Democrat senator from each state, and a split caucus in the House. Of course, the Presidential election would be problematic.
Keep Canada Canada, and let's negotiate a fair trade deal.
