The problem for Democrats is of the 27% of the "Independents" that were polled, only 3% of them said they disapproved of the speech (assuming all 20% Democrats disapproved, which is a certainty). And if you really know anything about polling, these media polls poll Democrats that claim to be Independent, but they vote with the Democrats almost 100% of the time.
