That simply did not happen. What did happen was Clinton acted like an ultra liberal nutjob the first two years and got his ass handed to him in 1994. He cared much more about his legacy than the Democratic Party, so he pretty much just became a Republican from that point.

Note, the Republican Party did not change what it stood for one iota in the 1990's. Your statement is simply not true.
