Of course they are really the third leading power in the world, could be number two. I read an article in Foreign Affairs quarterly years ago 04 or 05 that said that within 40 years Russia would have the largest economy in Europe and Germany right behind them. They gave the reasons why and If I recall it was Market and an increase in population. The USA would be behind the EU and China. Militarily is more about where and when the battles are fought. How do you compare Militarily capability anyway. The next war the US has to depend on its carrier force Probably be gone within 90 days.
