When Mizzou hired Drink, he wasn’t the most qualified for the job either. Nick Saban was. But Nick Saban wouldn’t have come here.
So most qualified has to be taken from who wants the job. You don’t know who Mizzou interviewed before DRF and Gates, who may have turned them down first to judge whether or not they were the most qualified Mizzou can get. But you ignore this because you have a narrative you want to create. That a woman and black are DEI hires, because YOU ruled that they weren’t the most qualified as if you were capable of judging.
