writing in the constitution must stand on its own. And i believe the document says that "children born on american soil are american citizens".
To the extent that i quoted it correctly or nearly so, there is no opportunity in my opinion for any brilliant historian or someone wanting to rewrite history to say "But that is not what they meant".
Maybe it's not what they meant and it was poorly written. Then amend the constitution with a constitutional amendment.
I have heard people try to explain what was "really meant" with that language and they point to other documents written at other times to "prove" it.
Sorry.
Until it's changed or i can be convinced otherwise, if i were on the scotus, ANY child born on american soil or however it's written) is an american citizen.
His parents aren't, his brother and sister aren't, his grand parents aren't, his 23 cousins aren't and his friends aren't.
They don't get to stay. If they want their family to stay together, stay together in mexico.
Adios.
