organized a reception for Carter during his reelection campaign in 80. It was more like a photo op for Carter. It was held on a farm just a couple of miles from KCI airport outside Platte City. It was supposed to be a few area farmers and Carter sitting on some straw bales discussing farm policy in an open manner. Dad didn't have much good to say about it after it was over. OTOH, I met Reagan at a campus visit in 76 and had the opposite experience.
