Was announced that fans were gonna hate it because 1st round games would generally be boring and/or blowouts.

8 teams would have been enough. At least they maybe one one bad game.

They dug themselves into a hole on this one though. Simply using conference champions will result in more of the same. On the other hand using pure rankings to place 8 teams is equally messy because some conferences are harder than others. You'll ha e 3 loss teams in over 1 loss teams etc.
