What do you think the odds of a tax collector being illiterate are?
Paul, while being literate also used an amanuensis to write for him. One of these helpers was known as Mark. While we cannot know for certainty that this Mark also wrote the Gospel of Mark, it cannot likewise be proven that he didn’t. We just don’t know.
The author of Luke-Acts was a well educated writer, who admits to using material from others and speaking to those who knew Jesus.
And we can’t say Paul didn’t encounter Jesus as Paul was a Pharisee, possibly a member of the Sanhedrin (Acts 26:10).
