If he is going to continue w/ two sports this likely won't workout and you certainly can't pencil him in as the starter. I can't think of a P4 QB in the last decade who has had success with this? The offenses and defenses are just more sophisticated than the Phil Bradley days.
Up until the surgery there is no question his future is/was in baseball. Maybe the TJ surgery may change this as the football mechanics of throwing are a lot less stressful on an elbow vs pitching.
I'm done w/ the whole two sport thing. If a QB in the future insists on this, I'd be a hard pass. It's good for our baseball program, but that is one expensive pitcher we signed.
No sense crying about it, but I can't believe we're in this situation. We have had three years to get ready for '25. It's my only big criticism of Drink. The succession planning at QB has been horrendous.
I agree, maybe it works out and Sam's a stud. But to go into the season w/ this as your Plan A seems crazy to me.
