It does get your players on the field against other players who don't see their tendencies every week and results in a lot of good film.
It also fills a necessary spot on the schedule without tearing up your bench.
Every team does it. It would be really cool if folks here could appreciate how that may suggest there are many, many rational reasons for it rather than expecting our team (all by itself) to break rank and play the New York Giants in the non-conference schedule.
