to the Fergusona and then the George Floyd riots set the stage for the bad actors to act out on J-6. Why should they be held accountable for their actions if there were numerous incidents where charges were dismissed on far worse actions?
But anyone who laid hands on a Capitol police officer that day needs to be in jail. Anyone who smashed out windows to gain access--or just to destroy--needs to be in jail.
And there was far worse destruction and violence during Trump's inauguration which went unchecked.
Nancy Pelosi needs to be held accountable. Trump wanted to call the National Guard and she wouldn't allow it.
The Capitol Police sent home officers from the previous shift and didn't call in officers from the oncoming shift when they should have had maximum staffing. The fact they allowed officers to be on vacation that day is ludicrous.
Worked with a guy who would study the monthly Park Commissioner's board meeting packet religiously so he could spot the special events. Guess who put in for vacation MONTHS in advance of KY102's "Day in the Park"?
By compariosn, I had put in for my sister's wedding in STL and got my vacation request revoked. So I got up early Sunday morning, drove to KC from STL, got to the event just in time to man my post, and promptly made an arrest which took me out of service for 2 hours.
