faced a rising tide of support for big time Liberals in the form of Bernie and Liz. Harris was painted by their campaigns as anti-poor, hard prosecutor. In the primaries friend, you run to your base and Harris was characterized as too far to the RIGHT. That's what happened. Doesn't seem too very relevant today.
