The government micromanage the economy and make decisions rather than the people whose lives will be effected and who are much closer to the situation & in much better position to make those decisions.
Also, for the Federal Reserve control the money supply and decide whether to speed up the economy (& cause an inflationary boom cycle) or to slow it down (& cause a deflationary recession).
Things like controlling prices... how much businesses should charge, regulating the heck out of them. For instance, the whole DEI thing and protected classes, how much water a toilet should use per flush, what kind of light bulbs people should have... outlawing plastic straws and large sodas.
Deciding which businesses get huge government subsidies and which will be persecuted out of business.
and much, much more.
