....but holy cow, when you look at the overall SEC school athletic performances for 2023/24.....other than football, Laird Veatch has nowhere to go but up.

When it comes to all-around sports excellence in the SEC, nobody tops Rocky Top.

Tennessee won its third straight SEC All-Sports title, finishing first in 2023-24 standings in the men’s division and second in the women’s division. That was good enough for the Volunteers to take the overall title, presented by the USA TODAY Network.

“I am so proud of our exceptional student-athletes, coaches, and staff, as well as the unwavering support of our fans and donors here on Rocky Top,” athletics director Danny White said. “Securing the SEC All-Sports Trophy for the third consecutive year is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.”


Tennessee scored 148.13 points, followed by Texas A&M (147.50), Florida (129.75), Georgia (124.50) and Arkansas (123.50). Tabulation finished after baseball’s regular season ended.

Points are based on the number of teams competing in a sport. For instance, if 14 schools have gymnastics teams, the winner gets 14 points.

Arkansas had the most individual team champions with five, while Florida had four. Tennessee won softball, men’s basketball and baseball and was second in three other sports. That depth was enough to edge Texas A&M for the overall crown.


The Aggies did win the women’s all-around title for the first time since 2014-15.
