I have read two opinions from sports attorneys who say Title IX won’t require this revenue be split evenly.
The most likely scenario I have heard so that since this is compensation for the athletes broadcast rights it will be determined by the value of those broadcast rights, football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball in that order will get the bulk of it. Lots of details to work out.
The most interesting part to me is the removal of scholarship limits which is going to have huge impact at SEC/Big Ten schools for sports like baseball. That is covered by Title IX so if you what 27 baseball scholarships so you have to offset it with an equal number of women’s scholarships.
