various methods of engaging when you close the left door. Our first French door was a GE and the tab to catch the closing latch kept breaking off. I had to keep gluing it. The current LG has a catch on a spring so if you close the left door with the center seal "open" the catch just retracts and comes up securely in the latch.
Oh, and the GE crapped out but not really. Its compressor made a high pitched whine only dogs and I could hear. Watching TV in the family room sounded like I was on the set of NCIS LA in their tech room. They replaced the compressor and fixed the problem but then a few years later the water/ice in the door leaked internally and was causing the door to rust. After months of having them order a door and wait, they realized there was no way GE was going to do a production run of the door.
The good news is we had the Experian warranty from NFM so we got a check for the replacement cost of the fridge. Back to NFM...my wife was "don't tell them this story" but I told an abbreviated version. "Oh, this is from an Experian claim. You get the deepest discount on a replacement fridge." Saved us several hundred dollars.
And this LG French door fridge is supposed to be the same size as the GE it replaced, but damn it's got more space than the other one.
