It's going to be so weird explaining Trump in like 20 years.

Well he was a New York liberal who decided after flirting with it forever to run for president. But the weird thing is he actually won the nomination and then the presidency! He was seen as an outsider who could shake things up and "drain the swamp". Now he didn't do that and he ran up the deficit and cut taxes for the wealthy like the republicans before him but then he lost re-election which is not super common. But then he was chosen to run again? For a third time? Against the guy he already lost to. Because people still thought he was a 'fight for the average American' type of politician despite evidence to the contrary.
So TL:DR we elected a 70+ year old game show host, it went as poorly as you think, but he sitll was his party's nominee 3 times. The guy he lost to is old as dirt and nobody really wants him either but it's like, we literally can't elect this lunatic again. Oh and both are showing serious signs of cognitive decline because old people disproportionately choose our elected officials.
2016-2024 were weird!
