but I'm not sure that DeSantis becomes their default candidate. Mainstreamers might argue that there needs to be a clear departure from Trump (and his supporters' choice). Haley still polls as narrowly defeating Biden. So do you punt the election or do you support an imperfect second choice.

I'm not saying that I agree with her, but I can see the "why".
