inaction would appease a resurgent and rearming Germany by accepting their absorption of Austria and the Sudetenland into the Reich. The reality was neither Great Brittan or France were militarily capable of opposing Germany. They were helpless to prevent the German people from uniting their populations. IMO, Chamberlain acted appropriately. The Allies were not going to keep Germany down indefinitely, especially a united one. Where Chamberlain erred was in sending the BEF to France where they would fail to stop the Wehrmacht and get themselves surrounded at Dunkirk. That was a colossal mistake.
