It's weirdly ensconced between:
the affluent new money burbs in West County (mid-Johnson county/Lees Summit mesh)
absolute hillbilly methville out in the sticks in Jefferson County (not really a KC equivalent - it's basically the edge of the ozarks)
the old money inner burbs of Kirwood/Webster Groves/Rockhill(BKS into Leawood/Fairway), and
the working class white suburbs of South County (basically that strip of 40 hwy from 435 to LS road)
