Whose odds - yours?
So basically Drink, Brady Cook, Darius Robinson (and other Mizzou players who are very outspoken about their faith) are either “liars” or “total retards”.
What a sad perspective.
There are so many stories of brilliant Christians who started out as atheists (C S Lewis and Lee Stroebel come to mind) who were avowed atheists early in life - but the more they investigated the Bible and Jesus, came to the realization that he had to be exactly who he said he was. The Son of God.
Too many collaborating eye witness accounts - and all that his enemies had to do was to produce his corpse and the whole thing would be blown up before it ever started.
How do you explain almost every one of his disciples going to a horrible death - willingly - some hung upside down on a cross to die - for something they knew was a lie?
Are there people who are Christian’s in name only - Yep, you got that right. I think Jesus refers to them as “lukewarm” Christians - whom he spews from his mouth. He would rather you’re hot or cold - not luke warm.
Do you even believe in a creator - or do you think the world just happened?
There are over 100 constants that, even if one were off by a hair, would preclude man’s existence.
The size of the moon and its distance from the earth.
The thickness of the earths crust.
The level of oxygen and nitrogen in the air.
The degree of tilt - 23 degrees - of the earth.
The 24 hour rotation
Our distance from the sun.
Over a hundred of these factors that if even one was slightly off would preclude life.
And where did the first life come from? Lightning hitting a puddle of water?
I would recommend a book to you - Ralph Turek and Norman Geisler “I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist”. And just investigate their research and conclusions.
Lee Stroebel also wrote a great book about miracles - actual miracles that happen all the time - and doctors and scientists have no rational answer for what occurs.
Another good book - John Burke’s “Imagine Heaven” - near death experiences of people who have flat lined but been brought back to life - and what they experienced on the other side. These are people who had no reason to lie - airline pilots, prominent businessmen, doctors, and yes, atheists, who report in extremely similar ways what they saw on the other side (chapter 16 details an atheists account of hell - such a horrible experience that when he was brought back to life, he became a minister)
Can’t imagine going through life with no faith - no hope for eternity - and when we die, that’s the end.
Are Christians perfect? Of course not. Everyone falls short.
But people I know who are true believers are the happiest people I know - with a real peace and joy about them.
But I’d at least encourage you to have an open mind and investigate the Bible and the many apologetics dealing with Jesus.
