I agree with some/much of what you say here, in fact perhaps a month or two ago I had said that although the blue bloods had a head start advantage, they probably should be the most worried about the new NIL paradigm which would shake things up a bit.
The ramifications will probably continue reverberating and shaking up the landscape for a few years at least. Conference reorganizations are also shaking things up.
I think you are probably undervaluing Drink's salesmanship and overblowing his gameday decision making, however. As fans we naturally have a tendency at Monday morning quarterbacking and being hyper sensitive to any bad calls and assuming that all "good coaches" would have made the "correct call" in the heat of the moment... and, of course, that had the 'correct call' been made that things would have turned out much better and would have often won games that we lost because of the 'bad call'.
