Cuonzo perpetuated the fraud that he was a "good man" who mentored his players and molded them into men. He fooled people into thinking he was some sort of defensive guru and had a deep understanding of the game. He conned everyone with the myth that he could create relationships with the HS coaching community, particularly in stl, and that he could recruit.
Turns out he sucked at everything and was a general a**hole that no players, coaches, or boosters wanted anything to do with.
Meanwhile Sanders attracts coaches, players, boosters, fans, and has a huge network of people who have been in his life a long time. He's successful and the people who know him are eager to celebrate his success with him.
