actually hired because for a window of time Ted Owens was not cheating enough and ku was turning into a pretty crappy program. But if you compare the level of cheating that Larry Brown deployed in relation to Roy Williams and then later to the astronomical level of Bill Self it makes Brown look like he made serious attempts at following the rules.
Cheating at ku certainly didn't originate with Larry Brown. Wilt gave interviews about the complicated system of boosters paying him to go there, and Phog Allen basically admitted in an interview that the only reason Clyde Lovelett went there was because he cheated. When you say ku 'history' its basically just another way of saying they 'started cheating before everyone else and do so at a much larger degree than everyone else'. There is no such thing as legitimate ku basketball history or accomplishments.
