That would make sense presuming Florida State and Clemson are announced as coming into the SEC within the next few weeks.

I think that is what is going to happen.

That would put the SEC at 18 schools, equal to the Big 10 and I think the SEC wants to be at the same number of schools as the Big 10 in order to feel that it is on equal footing when the negotiations start next year about the expanded college football playoff.
