I would tend to guess those that may be more reliant on social services would be more liberal, or those that know close ones that are, especially those with fewer resources.

Maybe also because liberals might be a bit less judgmental towards them as well.

So which came first, assuming some sort of weird event did not cause the mental illness, the illness, or political paradigm
