They did. All the time. A lot of them wanted to go to the B12 because they wanted their rival TX and TX recruiting back, blaming their woes on losing their old identity. Their rivals have now gone to them.
It’s not going to happen but B12 still has advantages for Mizzou.
If AZ St. & CU join, 4 of MU’s largest alumni bases are in B12 country: KC (ku, ksu), DFW (TCU), Valley of the Sun/Phoenix and Rocky Mountain/Denver. Alum access can lead to alums caring more about helping Mizzou.
Historical rival that still means a lot to the vast majority of MU fans.
Great hoops league that has a long legacy of a solid conf tourney in our own damn state.
A better cultural fit in terms of emphasis on sports among memeber schools. As compared to the SEC where MU’s culture is a poor fit.
And UCF and BYU are both in a better situation than Mizzou to raise NIL. UCF is a major metro and is creating 2x the alums every year in a state with many recruiting advantages. BYU has been more successful at sports than Mizzou in my lifetime and has a whole religion behind it. Not sure why MU should look down on them anymore than South Carolina and MS State?
