Rookies taken in the second round don't have a right to a guaranteed contract. First-rounders are entitled to four-year contracts with at least two years guaranteed.
If a second rounder gets a two way contract, that can be as low as half the league minimum. Still good money, but better than an NIL deal? Maybe not.
I'd go if I were Kobe, though. There's nothing left to prove here.
