People who complain about common core math just don't like

the fact that it is different than the way t they learned.
The whole point of CC math is to teach an understanding of numbers instead of relying on memorization. I had graduated from college with a degree in mathematics and still relied on memorized processes. It wasn't until I started teaching that I really started recognizing some of the patterns. Give me a kid who can see those patterns and I can teach him almost anything in math.
It is really hard to break the 'I learned it this way' pattern an realize that there may be better ways.
