Attorney Roberta Kaplan is delivering closing args in the Carroll v Trump
She argues Trump told on himself in two parts
1) Mistaking Carroll for his wife: “E. Jean Carroll, a former cheerleader and Miss Indiana, was exactly Donald Trump’s type.”
2) His words in the Access Hollywood tape, which Kaplan says prove the alleged attack was his MO: “He pushed her up against a wall, he started kissing her, he didn’t wait. He grabbed her — using his words — by the pussy.”
While Carroll called 11 witnesses, Trump called zero, Kaplan notes. “He didn’t even bother to show up here in person.”
“In a very real sense, Donald Trump here is a witness against himself ... and there’s a good reason for that. Donald Trump knows what he did.”
Kaplan concludes by explaining the burden of proof for the battery & defamation counts, and tells jurors the evidence proves both, “but I think you already know that.”
