Semantics maybe but I disagree that there’s little difference between a 3 & a 4.
There’s little difference between a modern 4 and a traditional 3, but modern vs modern is not the same.
There are 3 valid lineups, considering that the 2 & 3 are the same these days and a 4 is a “stretch” position.
1-2-2-4-4…..most common but decreasing
1-2-2-2-5
1-2-2-4-5…….pretty rare these days
A 1-2-2-2-4 can be ok until you actually play against a decent 5.
