It is about grievance, being a victim, and wanting to parlay that victimhood into getting something. It is the only answer if you look at how things actually play out. As you say, the rampant black on black violence goes largely ignored. Why? There is nothing to be materially gained in addressing it. Only moral gain. That doesn't pay for bling.
