in a lopsided beatdown?
Gates did okay, but SEC basketball isn't nearly as competitive as SEC football, and you only need 1 or 2 players to be competitive (note: we were only ranked #57 in Kenpom, but I consider that to be fairly competitive). Kobe Brown (who Gates inherited from Cuonzo) was a difference maker.
Also, "NIL" bidding wars make it harder than ever to recruit an 85-man roster capable of competing in the toughest CFB league *by far*. Our only hope is that there's eventually some regulation.
