is black and the perp is not. If the one causing the injury wears a shield their race doesn't even matter.

The serious answer to your question is that it will not happen until we quit infantilizing African Americans.

One glaring thing I noticed about the headline when I first saw it. In the headline, they noted the race of the victim. The only time race is mentioned by the media today is in a crime with a white suspect and a black victim. My favorite is when there is a report where they are looking for the suspect in a crime but refuse to mention the race of the person we are supposed to be on the lookout for. Like it or not ethnicity is our most defining feature when we are in a crowd of people.
