To see what the team looks like against the schedule to get that specific.
Obviously we want to find some guys in the portal to fill some roles, but we have to be careful going too hog wild in the portal because only so many guys can play and if you completely disenfranchise the three quality freshmen, they might leave and then you find yourself trapped in an endless portal cycle. Being stuck on the portal carousel every year would be worse than being like Kentucky, stuck on the one and done carousel every year.
I think this would be my ideal scenario:
Kobe and Mosley stay and start along side Honor and an improved Diarra.
We find a serious three point sniper in the portal to be the final starter. Preferably a guy with two or three years of eligibility remaining.
East, the juco wing, and Carter can give us a top eight or nine, depending on how some of the freshman can get into the rotation and gain some experience.
We find a way to rebound with strategy and athleticism as opposed to just throwing a widebody in there and hoping he can grab them.
Majak or Kaleb’s scholarship opens up or it turns out true that Kobe’s doesn’t count.
Find three more top 100 freshman next year and one or two guys in the portal.
Figure out a way to get to a point where you only need one portal guy every year or two.
