Maybe he honestly feels that kids involved in criminal activity shouldn't be representing the University until they are cleared. Maybe he's sending a message to his players to avoid those situations, as opposed to your strained view that he's trying to undermine Coach Oats. Maybe he's sending a message to the Administration. Bottom line is that you're guessing at his motivation and assigning it to pettiness.
