First offense is a class B misdemeanor, or a fine of $500 plus 6 months in jail as the max punishment. No one goes to jail on a first offense. This is hardly more serious than a traffic ticket, from a legal perspective. The 3rd offense (and subsequent offenses) is a felony in MO.

I suspect the punishment from the team will be quite a bit worse, and he definitely needs to be smarter. He won't miss any game action because of this though, assuming this is the first time he's had trouble (and I've never heard of him being in trouble before).
