Blake Baker is not that guy; Kirby Moore may not be either

If you look at college football outsider’s F+ rankings, you’ll notice there’s a declining trend for Blake Baker’s defenses. The defenses a year before he’s been hired as the DC at LA Tech and Miami both grade out better than any defense he managed to assemble at those schools; in fact he even lost his play calling privileges at Miami before he left for LSU. I can’t find the article but I remember rockmnation doing an analysis of his defenses’ sp+ performances and they also got worse over time. Kirby Moore’s first year as an OC at Fresno State also showed a regression, as their offense went from 27th to 65th. Not a positive sign. I think Blake Baker’s resurgence this year was more so a byproduct of amazing talent on the defensive side of the ball, and not so much the coaching job he did. I hope I’m proven wrong by these two coordinators, but color me as hesitant.
