Winter's Bone.

I think it's more representative of West Virginia or another appalachian state even though it is supposed to take place in the ozarks as springfield is referenced.

Jennifer Lawrence's break out role.

The teardrop character is a great example of how to write a character as an absolute bad ass without the need to show a gory backstory.
