Did Drink underestimate his team's talent level this year?

Saw a post below about Cook, and how Drink knew this was going to be a down year and so he just went with Cook. Not sure that is entirely accurate - he did make numerous attempts to bring a QB in via the portal - but if so, I think this was a missed opportunity. The defense was much better than thought and we had some talented wide receivers (one so talented that the No. 1 team in the country wanted him), Not ripping Cook because he is what he is, but we needed a QB with a better arm and some better play calling.

Not that we were going to make the playoff but this team very easily could have won nine or 10 games and playee in a New Year's day bowl.. Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky were all there for the taking.
