Wife was at a shop she frequents, especially during the holidays. Owner was chatting and dropped a bombshell she had to leave soon to go to an HOA meeting to protest some recent decisions. When they first moved in the neighborhood had no HOA but one was formed and dues were $225/year.
Californians moved into the neighborhood and managed to take over the HOA. Dues are now $400 a year. They want to tear out the pool and replace it with an Olympic sized pool. That would drive their dues up to $850/year. They had already voted once to strike down the plan but the Californians solicited more support and pushed the pool plan through.
They are tickled to death the World Cup is coming to KC because it will give them an opportunity to AirBNB their homes.
